One Piece, The Best Saga

Even heard of One Piece? If your answer is no, I love to ask you which planet did you come from? One Piece is the most successful saga created in manga history besides Dragon Ball. There are many good mangas out there but One Piece is the best in featuring 'nakama' (comrades). No mangas describe nakama as good as One Piece.

Here is a review about One Piece I've found at theotaku.com:

"If you've ever read any shonen manga, you know the basic story: a young hero sets out on an adventure to achieve of a goal of excellence. Along the way, he has to overcome his weaknesses, improve at his strengths, make friends, learn the values of teamwork, and beat the crap out of whatever wacko villains come in his way. Develop/repeat for hundreds of episodes, either never ending at all or not giving any conclusion in the final episode, and you have the main idea of pretty much every shonen action series ever made. One Piece, being the longest running of all of Shonen Jump's current series, follows this formula pretty much perfectly. And yet, it follows it so perfectly it doesn't feel formulaic in the slightest. Comparisons to previous series can be made but aren't made, because you're so sucked into the adventure that it truely feels new. Out of all the episodes that have been made, I've only seen the first 60, so my opinions could change depending on further viewing, but based on feedback towards some of the later arcs I see more chance of my opinions heightening than lowering. If you're a 10-year-old who is first getting into anime via the Japanese version of One Piece, I envy you."

Death Note - The Masterpiece of Genius

This is my all-time favourite! This series has completed two years ago and there are three live action movies for this manga starring Tetsuya Fujiwara as Yagami Light. And there is also an anime series which retain the original story, unlike the movies.

"Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the “Death Note”, lying on the ground in the year 2003. The Death Note’s instructions claim that, if a human’s name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note’s genuineness, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit the Death Note is real. After meeting with the true owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become the “God of new world” by passing his judgment on criminals.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as “L”. L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as “Kira”(In Japlish, “Kira “sounds like “Killer”), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill a person just by knowing their face and name. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a race to prove mental superiority between the two begins."
